Early Years Curriculum

Eagle House’s fantastic purpose-built Early Years environment lends itself to the child-led, creative approach to learning which is firmly embedded in the curriculum across the Nursery and Reception years.

Our amazing team of staff create exciting, fresh and fun-filled activities, with an infectious 'buzz' which can't help but draw children in.

Throughout the Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) the open environment, both inside and out, enhances the provision across all seven areas of the Early Years curriculum (Personal, Social and Emotional, Communication and Language, Physical, Mathematics, Literacy, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design) and small group work allows children to learn core skills in literacy and maths at their own pace. The timetable is a careful balance between child-led learning, objective-led planning and adult directed activities.

Children can be seen using the characteristics of effective learning (creating and thinking, playing and exploring, and active learning) to lead their own journeys, supported by staff who acknowledge the individuality of every child. Intervention activities reinforce key areas of focus, encouraging children to achieve the next stage of their personal development.

Our Early Years children spend time with specialist staff for music, French and PE. Weekly swimming lessons are incorporated into the timetable and there is the option to engage in ballet lessons to further develop core body skills.  Children leave Reception as happy, confident individuals with a strong social awareness, a readiness for more formal learning and taste for the educational adventures ahead.
