Year 8 children were lucky to go up to Wellington's Christopher Lee Theatre to hear American author Michael Grant speak about his latest series of books set in World War 2. Front Line and Silver Stars are the new books in what will most likely be a trilogy.
Michael spoke about his desire that History be taught properly, not air brushing out the real facts. He spoke about the reason that he has written this series that imagines US women fighting alongside men. Although this is a work of fiction Michael stressed the importance of research and told us he wanted his books to stand up against the reality of the war.
Michael Grant has written over 150 books and his success with the Animorph series and with YA series Gone and Bzrk have made him one of the most successful authors writing today.
This event, organised to coincide with World Book Day week was a great chance to listen to an honest account of an author and his journey as a writer.
Afterwards Michael signed loads of books, taking time out to chat to everyone as he did so.
A great afternoon.
