Our selection policy is by ability. The level of a pupil’s ability is assessed as on-going process throughout the term and there is often movement between the different squads throughout the term.  There are many different factors considered when selecting teams including ability, level of ability of opposition, team dynamics, and most importantly the effort & attitude of individuals.

If a player is moved down to play in another team, this is often the result of a player in a lower team performing well.  We realise pupils are sometimes very disappointed with certain selections but it is hoped they will show resilience and determination, and a fight to prove their ability to their coaches.

It is not feasible to expect that every pupil or parent will be wholly satisfied with team selection. However we ask you to support our decision, and encourage your child to do likewise, as it is always for the benefit of the team or an individual.

Your child’s success or lack of success in sports does not indicate what kind of parent you are. But having an athlete that is coachable, respectful, a great teammate, mentally tough, resilient and tries their best IS a direct reflection of your parenting”

When there is a clash between a school fixture and a club fixture, the school fixture should take priority.  All sports fixtures can be found at www.eaglehouseschoolsports.com.  The School fully supports pupils playing outside of school, especially gifted and talented players in county or regional training programmes, so fully understands that some pupils have regular commitments. Wherever possible The School will support that pupil.

Sports Colours (Individual Sporting Awards)

Sports colours are awarded to pupils who make an outstanding contribution in a particular sport. Full Colours can be awarded to a (Year 7 or 8) pupil who has played in a 1st Team or A squad for the majority of the term.  Half Colours can be awarded to any pupil any year group, and team.  Colours are awarded on the following criteria:- Attitude, Performance, Leadership & Commitment, and can awarded at any point throughout the term.
