At the heart of our Learning for Life philosophy is the belief that no amount of learning is enough unless we have learnt how to value ourselves and our place as part of a community.
At Eagle House we strive to establish a true community where individuals look out for one another both between and across year groups.
In Years 3 - 5 the children are given a ‘Buddy’ who is a pupil in years 6-8 in their ‘Section’. They are there to be a friendly face who is keen to listen to them and spend time with them. At the end of year 5, pupils spend some time learning how to listen to others and how best to help their peers. This system of peer mentoring benefits both the older and younger child.
When the pupil reaches Year 6 they become a ‘Buddy’ themselves. There is therefore many a friendly face with whom to share problems or worries.
